THE PHOTOGRAPHER

  SPORTS

When I'm shooting a sporting event, I'm in my special place. For an athlete, it's called being in "the zone," when the game slows down and your senses turn hyper-aware. Standing on the football sideline or sitting on the baseline of the basketball court, I experience that same feeling. As I look through the viewfinder, the camera becomes a natural extension. The best shots go beyond the action. Faces, eyes, expressions all give an emotion to the photo. Body extensions lend to the art of the human form. the opposition of victory versus defeat give emphasis to the competition and tell the story.
